The driveway is an important part of any property, particularly a newbuild where the ground has been scarred by construction vehicles.
We were delighted to be asked to quote for the creation of a large entranceway and drive for a newbuild property in Barway, just outside Ely.
The generously proportioned house, sits back from the road and has a large adjoining garage sitting at right angles to the main building. Our client wanted a simple design that needs minimal maintenance and offers plenty of parking space for guests.
This beautiful property deserved more than a simple expanse of red brick pavers for parking on. The grace and stature of the house calls for a stylish entranceway with some interesting features to accentuate the home and draw the eye towards the welcoming front door.
As the garage is partially clad in an attractive grey composite timber, Danny suggested using charcoal coloured brick pavers for the body of the driveway. A contrasting border in a lighter grey colour would be used for detailing. To differentiate parking space from pedestrian zones, he recommended a broad pathway of cream coloured porcelain paving to create a journey between the front door and the garage. Finally, a stylish doorstep with recessed lighting perfectly compliments the shape and style of the house.
A change in levels between the property and the road meant that Danny and his team needed to carefully configure the driveway so that it slopes gently away from the property. Drainage was installed and the drive built onto a permeable sub-base so that rainwater runoff does not pour onto the public highway.
Outdoor lighting completes the look and ensures that the driveway feels safe at any time of the night or day.
The end result - one very happy client!
